India Hicks with her somewhat famous name was a bridesmaid in Princess Diana's wedding 30 years ago, 29 July 1981.  She was thirteen.

She is the daughter of Lady Pamela Mountbatten who was a bridesmaid in Elizabeth and Phillip's wedding,  her grandparents were then the Viceroy and Vicereine of India.

She can report that carrying Diana's 25ft train was a nightmare, it was the first wedding of a Prince of Wales in 118 years.  Diana wore jeans and a diamond tiara that morning - 3,500 guests were invited.

She wore butter-cup yellow satin shoes and returned to the Palace from the Cathedral in the glass coach that had delivered Diana.

The footmen on the couple's open-topped carriage were armed detectives.  Royal protocol dictated that Charles had two best men, brothers Andrew and Edward.

Diana's gift to her bridesmaids was a Halcyon Days china pot commemorating the day and later a rose from her bouquet set in Perspex for a paper wieght.

The honeymoon began at India's grandfather's home at Broadlands in Hampshire.
