The film, Anonymous posits that Edward de Vere, 17th Earl of Oxford and Shakespeare of Stratford pulled off the greatest literary scam in history. Edward de Vere and not Shakespeare wrote those timeless English plays.
Scandalously it also suggests the Earl was the illegitimate son of Queen Elizabeth, the Virgin Queen when she was 15.
Folks are scandalised and postively ticked off!.
The idea of Shakespeare's scam was first raised in 1856 by Delia Bacon and in 1920 by Thomas Looney.
It may be true it may be not but part of history's fascination are the stories with which it surprises us.
British ask why does America rubbish our history with trash films
