She
was born in Paris in 1890, the daughter of a cab driver and a char
woman. At age 16, she had a baby. She was then taken up by one of
Paris’s most influential madames, who
apparently taught her all she needed to know and she became ‘an expert
in the arts of love'. She became wealthy through a string of affairs and
marriages, one resulting in murder. During WWI she had an affair with a
Prince and attempted to blackmail a monarchy.
