Niccolò Machiavelli

de bene esse: literally, of well-being, morally acceptable but subject to future validation or exception

“All courses of action are risky, so prudence is not in avoiding danger (it's impossible), but calculating risk and acting decisively. Make mistakes of ambition and not mistakes of sloth. Develop the strength to do bold things, not the strength to suffer.”

- Niccolò Machiavelli, born 3 May 1469.

Italian historian, politician, diplomat, philosopher, humanist and writer based in Florence during the Renaissance. He was a founder of modern political science, and more specifically political ethics. His moral and ethical beliefs led to the creation of the word "Machiavellianism".
