George Orwell

de bene esse: literally, of well-being, morally acceptable but subject to future validation or exception

“The most effective way to destroy people is to deny and obliterate their own understanding of their history.”

- Today is the 110th Birthday George Orwell, born 25 June 1903.

English Author and Journalist born Eric Arthur Blair; best known for his allegorical novella, Animal Farm (1945), and dystopian novel, Nineteen Eighty-Four (1949). In 2008,

The Times ranked him second on a list of "The 50 greatest British writers since 1945". His work continues to influence popular and political culture, and the term Orwellian — descriptive of totalitarian or authoritarian social practices — has entered the language together with several of his neologisms, including Cold War, Big Brother, thought police, doublethink, and thoughtcrime.
