"I Have a Dream" in Detroit
de bene esse: literally, of well-being, morally acceptable but subject to future validation or exception
On
this day 50 years ago, tens of thousands of people poured into the
streets of Detroit to speak out against racial segregation and advocate
for civil rights. It was here that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. gave the
first version of his legendary "I Have a Dream" speech, which he would
deliver two months later at the historic March on Washington. Relive the
day with Detroit Public Television.
