Presidential Brevity

de bene esse: literally, of well-being, morally acceptable but subject to future validation or exception

John Calvin Coolidge, the 30th president of the United States, was famous for for saying as few words as possible. He once said "If you don't say anything, you can't be called on to repeat it." An honest statement, but you typically think of a President as being well spoken.
A young reporter was invited to meet Coolidge, and, her editor being aware of Coolidge's reputation of saying so few words, bet his reporter that she couldn't get the President to say MORE than two words to her! When the reporter explained the bet to Coolidge, he simply replied with 'You lose!'
