Levi's made Bing Crosby a denim tuxedo

de bene esse: literally, of well-being, morally acceptable but subject to future validation or exception

Today denim is normal and no one is looked down on for wearing it. However, only sixty years ago this was not the case. Bing Crosby loved wearing jeans and jean jackets, and when he went hunting in Vancouver, Canada, he wore his comfortable jean outfit.

When he tried to check in at a hotel the clerk declared he would not be allowed to stay in the hotel because of his attire. At that time anything other than a suit out was inappropriate. To counter that, the denim company Levi’s tailored an entirely denim tuxedo for Bing Crosby, which became one of his most famous outfits!
