historic buildings and landscape of Falmouth Historic District

de bene esse: literally, of well-being, morally acceptable but subject to future validation or exception

Lecture TONIGHT in Falmouth on the most at risk sites in the Historic District at 1 Trelawny Street, Falmouth.

The Lecture will be given by Erin White, an ICOMOS (International Council on Monuments and Sites) Intern that conducted a study during June and July of 2013. It studies at-risk heritage sites located within the Falmouth Historic District in Falmouth, Trelawny, Jamaica, and examines what sites are in imminent danger of being lost, and prioritizes which of these sites require immediate attention versus long-term.

The historic buildings and landscape of the Falmouth Historic District are irreplaceable treasures. They are the material heart of the community’s history and current identity. The retention of the landscape and architectural fabric is part of preserving the unique sense of place that Falmouth has.

The product of this study is a report that lists individual properties, their current condition, and a recommended priority of attention. This project is intended as a basis for the future identification and tracking of at-risk sites.

DATE: Thursday, 08 August 2013 or Wednesday, 07 August 2013

VENUE: Courtyard at 1 Trelawny Street (Pinto House)

TIME: 5:00 p.m. (Lecture will begin promptly at 5:30 p.m.)
