Jimi Hendrix insisted on being the final performer at Woodstock. He didn't take the stage until Monday morning

de bene esse: literally, of well-being, morally acceptable but subject to future validation or exception

The famous Woodstock Festival took place August 15 - 19 1969 in Woodstock, NY.

The festival was advertised as "three days of peace and music." Tickets were originally sold, but the event became free when eager festival goers pulled down the barriers. Nearly half a million people attended.
The musical performances were abundant and diverse. The acts ranged from Crosby, Stills and Nash to the Who to Family Stone. Famed guitarist Jimi Hendrix insisted on being the last act of the festival.
He didn't take the stage until Monday morning though. From half a million, the crowd had dwindled to just 80,000. Predictably, the area looked like a tornado had gone through. Despite the smaller audience, Hendrix played his rock version of the Star Spangled Banner that would become legendary.
