Joseph Medlicott Scriven

de bene esse: literally, of well-being, morally acceptable but subject to future validation or exception

Joseph Medlicott Scriven, an Irish poet, died on 10 August 1886. He emigrated to Canada when he was 25. He wrote the hymn "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" to comfort his mother, who still lived in Ireland.
