Ancient Faces

de bene esse: literally, of well-being, morally acceptable but subject to future validation or exception

Do you know who this April Fool's baby and actress is?

She was born on April Fools day in 1902 ...

Her mother considered herself a talented an actress and the family wound up in New York. She did work on stage but only in supporting roles. They were in New York about a year when her daughter caught the attention of a Broadway producer. So it happened that the child became a legitimate stage actress instead of he mother at 6 years old.

To fool the Gerry Society, her mother "borrowed" the death certificate of a deceased niece so her 9 year old daughter could work as her 17 year old cousin.
