evolution of Europe in three minutes

de bene esse: literally, of well-being, morally acceptable but subject to future validation or exception

As time goes by: The mesmerising video that documents a MILLENNIUM of European history in just three minutes

The video shows the evolution of Europe
The video shows the evolution of Europe over 1,012 years from the time of the Vikings and Crusaders and charts the rise and fall of nations, including the decline of the Byzantine Empire (pictured top left) Europe at the time of the French Revolution (top right) at the height of the Cold War (bottom left) showing the huge Soviet Union and today (bottom right). The video invites viewers to test their historical knowledge as well as consider the vast human impact of major events such as the World Wars, which are simply shown by the movement of boundaries on a map. It contains animations and maps made by Frank Reed, who created the Historical Atlas.
