From The Rosicrucian Manual 1918 (sixth edition 1934)
"Trigonometry (from Greek trigōnon "triangle" + metron "measure") is a
branch of mathematics that deals with triangles, particularly those
plane triangles in which one angle has 90 degrees (right triangles).
Trigonometry deals with relationships between the sides and the angles
of triangles and with the trigonometric functions, which describe those
relationships." - Wikipedia
Triangulation is a technique used also to measure the height of
buildings, the distance of stars if they aren't too far away, the motion
of planets, to locate people by their cell phone, to make maps, ... all
sorts of things. The Arabs and Phoenicians became excellent navigators
of spaces without landmarks through the use of triangles. The Egyptians
kept track of the height of Sirius in the sky as well as many other
things using triangles. The sides of pyramids worldwide are made of 4
triangles.
What is the connection? Why triangles?
