1923 version of The Hunchback of Notre Dame

de bene esse: literally, of well-being, morally acceptable but subject to future validation or exception

Flicker Alley has just released the Blu-ray of the classic 1923 version of "The Hunchback of Notre Dame," starring Lon Chaney in his masterful and poignant performance of Quasimodo. This edition was mastered from a multi-tinted 16mm print that was struck in 1926 from the original camera negative. A new symphonic score was arranged by Donald Hunsberger and was recorded in the Czech Republic with Robert Israel conducting the orchestra. The disc also includes bonus feature. Photos of Chaney from the L.A. Times files. For more information go to http://www.flickeralley.com
