The Armenian epic The Daredevils of Sassoun is an ancient folktale that has passed down generations through oral traditions. Performances of this epic are done either through songs, poetry reading or theater and is a part of Armenian cultural expression. It is often associated with the very spirit of the Armenian people and their historical destiny. Its cultural value was recognized by UNESCO in 2012 when The Daredevils of Sassoun was inscribed on their list of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
