Photographer, Stephen Shames, captured daunting images of underage prostitutes in late 70s in new photo series

Times Square's decline began in 1960s and reached its peak in late 80s when prostitution dominated landscape 

Boy prostitutes were called 'chickens' and older men who paid for sex with boys were called 'chicken hawks' 

The boys were called street hustlers, which meant that they possibly supported their families through prostitution
