BILLBOARD magazine - top musicians in Chicago

Ms. Lewis is joined by Sarah Vaughan, Nat King Cole and Stan Kenton, a progressive jazz bandleader she was dating at that time. The occasion was a gathering of top musicians in Chicago sponsored by BILLBOARD magazine. The mystery woman next to Stan Kenton and Sarah Vaughan was Thelma Carpenter, a noted jazz singer and actress, who younger people may recall as Miss One from "The Wiz" (!!)

I wish I knew the name of the beautiful lady standing in between Ms. Vaughan and Mr. Kenton (she is not Mr. Cole's wife, Maria Cole) so if you do know, tell me her name in the comment section! *Updated to note that we have solved the mystery of the woman next to Stan Kenton and Sarah Vaughan. She was Thelma Carpenter, a noted jazz singer and actress (who younger people may remember as Miss One from "The Wiz" (!!) Thanks to Derrick Lucas, who kindly contacted Mr. Cole's manager, Dick LaPalm, who identified Ms. Carpenter for us. A new post on Ms. Carpenter is on the way.
