Margaret Sullavan

de bene esse: literally, of well-being, morally acceptable but subject to future validation or exception

Margaret Sullavan, the exquisite actress of stage and screen, died on this date in 1960 at the age of 50 of what was ruled by the coroner as an accidental overdose of barbiturates. Sullavan, who earned a best actress Oscar nomination for 1938's "Three Comrades," starred in several acclaimed films from 1935's "The Good Fairy," 1941's "Back Street" and "So Ends Our Night," and most notably 1940's "The Shop Around the Corner," with frequent leading man Jimmy Stewart.
