Bing Crosby

de bene esse: literally, of well-being, morally acceptable but subject to future validation or exception

On this date in 1944, Bing Crosby and the John Scott Trotter Orchestra recorded the tune, "Swinging on a Star," by Jimmy Van Heusen and Johnny Burke, at Decca Records. The song would not only become a smash hit for Crosby, it would be featured that year in the Oscar-winning best film "Going My Way," for which Crosby would win an Academy Award, and pick up the best song trophy.
