The wonderfully funny Eddie Bracken, who appeared in such Preston Sturges' comedies as 1944's "Hail the Conquering Hero," was born on this date in 1915 in Astoria, New York. He guest starred on countless TV shows and appeared on stage in musicals including "Hello, Dolly!" and "Show Boat." He died after surgery in 2002 at the age of 87.
