de bene esse: literally, of well-being, morally acceptable but subject to future validation or exception
First came Syria, then Snowden and, most recently, Crimea. The U.S.-Russian relationship has been deteriorating for years. And now, with Russian troops moving into Ukraine, the U.S. sanctioning top Russian officials and vice versa, antagonism between the two countries, and their leaders, is at a level not seen in decades. The Obama-Putin feud can now take its place in the long line of fraught, up-and-down, on-again-off-again U.S.-Russian relationships. The Cold War might be over, but the chill’s still definitely in the air. That doesn't mean a deep freeze—as these photographs show, U.S. and Russian leaders have always found a way to get along. LINK
