Recall MLK

de bene esse: literally, of well-being, morally acceptable but subject to future validation or exception

Unseen photos and letters written in jail by James Earl Ray who assassinated Martin Luther King in 1968 were found in 2007 and recently received official approval for release.

The photos were ordered taken by Sheriff Bill Morris to prove that Ray sustained no injury or abuse while in police custody when booked on 4th April 1968.

There is hope that release of these photos and documents will reinforce the pivotal role of the civil rights movement in honing contemporary race relations and honouring those whose lives were sacrificed to the cause.
