In 1971 a Northwest Orient Airlines 727 passenger jet was hijacked over Washington State when a man claimed to have a bomb shortly after takeoff. The passengers were exchanged for a $200,000 ransom and parachute in Seattle. Shortly after the flight crew took off with their hijacker for Mexico, the man called Dan Cooper parachuted from the plane into a 40 year mystery.
The prototype for all would be hijackers may be on the verge of a break in its FBI investigation.
