Most famous ancient coin, the silver Eid Mar, marked the assassination of Roman Emperor Julius Caesar on the Ides of March, its creation surmised to have been 15th March 42 BC. Caesar's assassin Marcus Brutus produced the coin with an image of his own head carved on one side.
In turn, Caesar's allies, Mark Antony and Octavian assassinated Brutus then ordered the coins be melted, their edict and it being the only coin in history to celebrate open murder has resulted in the coin's rarity. Brutus also committed the ultimate taboo by depicting his image on a coin.
The Eid Mar will be auctioned in September.
