Mayan Calendars

de bene esse: literally, of well-being, morally acceptable but subject to future validation or exception

While everyone panicked about December 21, 2012 - when the Mayan calendar cycle ended. There is a March 31, 2013 calendar as well when the Tzolk'in calendar ends. The Mayans had two calendars. The Haab' with 365 days which was the one everyone was focussed on and the other calendar called Tzolk'in with 260 days in a year.

The second calendar will end its 13th b'ak'tun (cycle) on March 31st.

The world will not end then either ...

But a great change will occur and in every crisis is opportunity as the much beloved President John F. Kennedy once said.

The soothsayers say 2008 was an "appetizer" to the main course that is bigger and coming in 2013. Who knows ... this blog only focusses on the history of the thing.
