The armies of Germany & Italy invading Yugoslavia set up the independent state of Croatia on April 10, 1941. National leader, Ante Pavelic,was put in control a pro-Axis regime in the new state. More than 350,000 Serbs, Jews, Gypsies & anti-fascist Croatians would be massacred at the hands of the pro-Axis regime.
