Lincoln Enshrined in Wrestling Hall of Fame

de bene esse: literally, of well-being, morally acceptable but subject to future validation or exception

Abraham Lincoln is best known of all American Presidents because of his strong and direct involvement in the abolishment of slavery in the United States. Despite his notoriety and many references in popular culture, there are some facts never heard about Lincoln.

As a young man, he was an incredible wrestler due to his strength and length of limbs. Allegedly, Lincoln lost one of 300 matches fought during his wrestling career. Honest Abe was also a trash talker in the ring. According to Carl Sandburg, after Lincoln beat his opponent with ease, he turned to the crowd and said “I’m the big buck of this lick. If any of you want to try it, come on and whet your horns."

His immaculate wrestling abilities earned him an "Outstanding American" award, and he was inducted into the Wrestling Hall of Fame.
