Flemish bond brickwork

de bene esse: literally, of well-being, morally acceptable but subject to future validation or exception

READING THE HISTORIC BUILDINGS AND STRUCTURES AROUND FALMOUTH.

An example of Flemish bond brickwork on the boundary wall of Barrett House; each layer of brick has one stretcher between each header, whereas with English bond there is a layer of stretchers then a layer of headers.

The next time you see an old brick wall, see whether it is Flemish bond brickwork or English bond brickwork.
