OTTOLENGHI family of VENICE

de bene esse: literally, of well-being, morally acceptable but subject to future validation or exception

Adolfo Ottolenghi (1885-1944) served as Chief Rabbi of the Jewish Community of Venice, Italy, from 1926 through 1944. He was arrested by the Germans and deported to Germany, where he perished. The group photo shows him along with the children of the Venetian Jewish community apparently during the early 1930s.
