Medical knowledge has become so easily obtained that it is
hard to imagine not knowing things like what the kidneys do or that
penicillin kills bacteria. Heck bacteria is a comparatively new factoid. Before the 19th century, it was believed
that contagious diseases spread through bad air or “seeds.” What we know
today was built upon the discoveries of cultures and scientists and
the growth of human civilization.
