Chawton House

de bene esse: literally, of well-being, morally acceptable but subject to future validation or exception

Chawton House in Hampshire, an Elizabethan manor house, once belonged to Jane Austen's brother, Edward. The home has been in the Knight family for over 400 years and today operates as The Centre for the Study of Early English Women's Writing, 1600-1830 and incorporates a specialist library. http://www.hha.org.uk/Property/1286/Chawton-House (Image: Chawton House Library)
