Islam in China ~ Shadowed Ground ~ More!

de bene esse: literally, of well-being, morally acceptable but subject to future validation or exception

Shadowed Ground
Shadowed ground is a geographic concept that examines what Americans have done at the sites of tragic and violent events. It looks at how and why they have chosen to memorialize, virtually ignore, or destroy various sites around the country that were places where tragic and/or violent events such as the Battle of Gettysburg, the assassination of John F. Kennedy and the Oklahoma City Bombing took place throughout the last three centuries.

Chinese Islam
Despite the government of the People's Republic of China's staunch secular stance, there exists a substantial Islamic presence among its ethnic minorities. In fact, there is a larger population of Muslims in China than in most Arab states, and Western China, bordering on Pakistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan, is known as "The Quran Belt" due to large number of Islamic communities found there.

World Heritage Sites
A World Heritage Site is a site determined by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to have significant cultural or natural importance to humanity.

Global Impacts of The Black Death
The Black Death was one of the worst pandemics in human history. In the 14th century, at least 75 million people on three continents perished due to the painful, highly contagious disease. Originating from fleas on rodents in China, the "Great Pestilence" spread westward and spared few regions.
