Have you ever wondered why certain
personalities become world famous? What traits do they possess which
takes them to the top of the world? Every country has produced
individuals who later on become the national hero of that country. Their
contributions to the restoration of the country’s identity make the
“national hero” of their respective countries. Matching their
personality would seem next to impossible for the future generations.
Every country has national heroes who
have contributed tremendously towards one’s own country. Their stories
would be very inspirational and motivational for the future generations.
There are however a few illuminating examples of national heroes of
different countries which are as follows:
· Mahatma Gandhi- He
was born on the 2nd of October, 1869 in Porbandar (British India) as
Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. He is given the title of “Father of Nation”
and hence called Bapu by Indians. He has contributed tremendously
towards freedom of India from the treacherous British rule. In 1893, he
became the part of the civil rights movement in South Africa which ended
in 1914. His movements in the struggle for Indian Independence have
succeeded in ending the brutal British rule in India. He was associated
with the Khilafat movement, Non-cooperation movement, Non-violence
movement, Satyagraha and Quit India movement, etc. He has also played an
active role in World War 1 and 2. He was assassinated on 30th January,
1948.
· Nelson Mandela- He
was born on 18th July, 1918 and noted as a South African Anti-apartheid
revolutionary and a politician who was the President of South Africa
from the year 1994 to 1999. His revolutionary activities include Law
Studies and the ANC Youth League, the Congress of the People and the
Treason Trial, Defiance Campaign and Transvaal ANC Presidency. His focus
was on dismantling the legacy of the apartheid through the elimination
of institutionalized racism, inequality and poverty and promoting racial
reconciliation. He has also served an imprisonment of 27 years after
which he was released by an international campaign.
Abraham Lincoln- He was born on 12th February, 1809 and was the 16th President of the United States of America. He served as a president from March 1861 until April 1865 when he was assassinated. He was the leader of many constitutional, moral and military crisis in the United States. The American Civil War which abolished slavery, modernized the economy and strengthened the National Government was possible under his leadership. He belonged to a poor family and was self-educated. He became a country lawyer and became associated with several revolutions in America during his tenure of the presidency. In fact, he is regarded as the best among the presidents of America till now. Most of the American people treat him as the biggest hero of their country and their idol.
Paul Bogle- He was born
in 1820 and was a Jamaica Baptist deacon. He is one of the
National Heroes of Jamaica. He led the Morant Bay Protest in 1865 which
focused on justice and fair treatment for all the citizens of Jamaica.
Due to his leadership of this rebellion, he was captured and was
sentenced to death on 24th October, 1865 in the Morant Bay Court House
by the authorities of the United Kingdom. His sole aim was to improve
the condition of the poor and remove the grievances of the poor farmers.

hero.
Charles Aznavour- He
was born in 22nd May, 1924 and received the title of National Hero of
Armenia. He is involved in film, music, political and public activities.
In the year 2009, he became the ambassador of Armenia to Switzerland
and a permanent delegate to the United Nations Organization in Geneva.
Abdul Halim- He was
born on 27th December, 1911 and was the 4th Prime Minister of Indonesia.
He is ranked amongst the top most national heroes of Indonesia. He made
an active contribution towards the establishment of the Emergency
Government of the Republic of Indonesia in Sumatra. He died on 4th July,
1987.
