Pinochet's coup

de bene esse: literally, of well-being, morally acceptable but subject to future validation or exception

Tomorrow is exactly 40 years since the coup that brought Gen Augusto Pinochet to power in Chile.

He was president for almost 17 years, during which time thousands of people were killed or disappeared.

One woman who suffered at the hands of Pinochet's soldiers, but lived to tell the tale, is Carmen Quintana.

She was doused in kerosene and set on fire like a "human torch". She told her harrowing story to Witness http://bbc.in/1fTXRet
