de bene esse: literally, of well-being, morally acceptable but subject to future validation or exception

The Man in Red

The Queen's Gallery, Buckingham Palace

The Man in Red is a magnificent sixteenth century portrait of a man who is sumptuously dressed entirely in red and standing in a landscape. The portrait is both rare and well known and very tantalising because we are still searching for the identity of the sitter and the artist. This talk will present the new findings and ideas following conservation and try to answer some of the questions about this enigmatic portrait.

Short Talks last approximately 10 minutes and are free with an exhibition ticket or 1-Year Pass.
Relates to In Fine Style: The Art of Tudor and Stuart Fashion exhibition at The Queen's Gallery, London, 10 May - 6 October 2013
