The Noongar children

de bene esse: literally, of well-being, morally acceptable but subject to future validation or exception

More than 60 years ago a group of Indigenous Australian children, removed from their parent's care under the government's assimilation policies, were resettled at the Carrolup Native Settlement. The Noongar children were struggling and deeply unhappy but - in 1946 - when new a headmaster named Noel White took over the running of the school, that all changed: he discovered some of the children had a gift for drawing and encouraged them to do it. More will be told about the extraordinary artwork they produced!
