Dian Fossey

de bene esse: literally, of well-being, morally acceptable but subject to future validation or exception

Dian Fossey spent 18 years studying endangered mountain gorillas in Rwanda. She was devoted to their care and protection, though it cost her her life. She was murdered, probably by poachers with whom she waged a relentless war. Fossey awakened the world to the plight of these gentle creatures.
