Before Glastonbury went corporate: Picture archive charts how the music festival has evolved since the 1970s (but the mud never really goes away)

These pictures show Glastonbury Festival in all its glory from the early seventies (top left) right through to the modern day. In early pictures, relaxed festival-goers at the infamous Somerset site can be seen arriving at a muddy campsite (top right) while others enjoy top-billed acts such as New Model Army (bottom left) and The Boomtown Rats. The collection also includes pictures of the ever-growing site from above such as one taken in 1992 where 70,000 people attended (bottom right).
