Sir Hans Sloane's cocoa/chocolate, Jamaica

de bene esse: literally, of well-being, morally acceptable but subject to future validation or exception

It is 355 years since the birth of Sir Hans Sloane, who came to Jamaica in 1687 for approximately 15 months. During the visit, he added a variety of specimens to his natural history collection.

While in Jamaica, Sloane was introduced to cocoa/chocolate as a drink and found that by mixing it with milk, the drink became more palatable. He took the chocolate recipe back to England where eventually, it was taken by Messrs Cadbury who manufactured chocolate using Sloane's recipe.”
