Originally writing as S.F. Porter, Sylvia Feldman Porter was hired by the New York Post as a financial columnist and later, as the financial editor. She gained a following with the New York Post, her column in American Banker, and her books with many assuming she was a man before the Post changed her byline and added her photo to show that she was a woman #OnThisDay in 1942. The revelation only aided in her success and she was invited to write for other publications, lecture, and be on the radio. (Photo via Jewish Currents)
