Fred Zinnemann's "From Here to Eternity," based on the best-selling novel by James Jones, had its New York premiere on this date in 1953.Montgomery Clift, Burt Lancaster, Deborah Kerr, Frank Sinatra, Donna Reed and Ernest Borgnine starred in the classic drama. The film earned eight Academy Awards including best film, director, supporting actor for Sinatra and supporting actress for Reed.
