Rome's Londinium was built in the 1st century AD and occupied until the 5th century AD. Their landmarks persist although many are beneath the ground of modern London.
An iPhone app "Streetmuseum:Londinium" brings Londinium to life virtually and is a collaboration of the London Museum of Archaeology and the TV History channel who created the content on the app.
The collaborators hope to encourage users to absorb the history and as they experience the historic landscape their intrigue will motivate them to enter a museum for futher exploration.
Excitingly a map of Roman London is overlaid on a Google map of London while an activated phone will play video vignettes of Roman scenes against a modern backdrop accompanied with soundscapes of what the streets of Roman London sounded like.
So revolutionary - I love it!
