The Descendants of Edward III

de bene esse: literally, of well-being, morally acceptable but subject to future validation or exception

Family tree of some of the descendants of Edward III; the cousins of the cousins wars. It is interesting to note that Lionel of Antwerp is not listed.

Note: Lady Anne Beauchamp, wife to Warwick, was a great-granddaughter of Prince Edmund of Langley, 1st Duke of York. Also, 3 of Henry VIII's wives descended from Edward III: Katherine of Aragon (via two of John of Gaunt's wives; Blanche and Constance), Jane Seymour (via Lionel of Antwerp), and Catherine Parr (via John of Gaunt's great-granddaughter Lady Alice [Neville] who was a sister to Warwick).

…Lady Anne Beauchamp was a great-granddaughter of the 1st Duke of York (Edmund of Langley). Lady Constance of York m. Thomas le Despenser, 1st Earl of Gloucester = Lady Isabel le Despenser m. Richard Beauchamp, 13th Earl of Warwick = Lady Anne Beauchamp, Countess of Warwick (mother of Queen Anne and Lady Isabel).

Interesting to note that there is no Lionel of Antwerp, the second eldest surviving son, from whom Edward IV claimed his crown.

Also, Katherine of Aragon, Jane Seymour, and Katherine Parr descended from Edward III. Katherine of Aragon via John of Gaunt’s first two wives (Blanche and Constance), Jane Seymour via Lionel of Antwerp, and Katherine Parr via Richard Neville, 5th Earl of Salisbury’s daughter Lady Alice (sister of Warwick).

And, Mary of Scots was a granddaughter of Margaret Tudor while Lady Jane Grey was a granddaughter of Mary Tudor.
